Is ClearLot a dealership?+
No. ClearLot is a neutral host. We provide the space, the visibility and the paperwork. We never negotiate, warranty or guarantee a sale. The price is between you and the buyer.
Where are the lots?+
ClearLot Columbia (1025 Dreyfuss Rd, Columbia, SC 29201), ClearLot Aiken (Aiken, SC), ClearLot Augusta (Augusta, GA). Every listing shows which lot the car is on. Drop-offs, test drives and rental pickups happen at that lot, by appointment, and we send directions when you book.
What does it cost to sell?+
A $35 weekly lot listing fee while your car is on display, and a transaction facilitation fee of $250 or 3% when it sells, as set out in your consignment agreement. Buyers browse and message for free.
Can I take my car back?+
Yes. Either side can end the consignment agreement with 7 days' written notice. You can start that from your dashboard.
How do test drives work?+
Request a time on the listing. Bring a valid driver's license and proof of insurance, and sign the test drive waiver. Drives start and end at the lot the car is on.
How does payment work?+
For a sale, payment runs through a third-party processor. ClearLot does not hold, guarantee or refund sale funds, and both parties sign the payment facilitation agreement.
Can I rent a car instead of buying?+
Yes, when the owner offers it. Pick your dates on the listing to see the price and refundable deposit, sign the rental agreement and send the request. Nothing is charged until ClearLot approves. Then pay online (when offered) or at the lot before pickup.
How does rent-to-own work?+
Some owners offer a down payment plus weekly payments. The listing shows the total cost and, if the car is also for sale, how it compares to the cash price. Apply online; if approved, you sign the written contract at the lot. You own the car after the final payment.
Can I use a ClearLot car for Uber, Lyft, DoorDash or Instacart?+
Yes, all three ways. Buy it and it's yours to drive for any platform. Rent it by the day or week: rideshare and delivery driving is allowed under the rental agreement, as long as you carry the coverage your platform requires and stay within any mileage allowance on the listing. Rent-to-own cars are driven on the terms of the written contract you sign at the lot.
Can I rent my car out through ClearLot?+
Yes. Turn on renting or rent-to-own from your listing, set your rates and sign the owner rental addendum. ClearLot checks every renter's license and insurance, approves each request and hands over the keys at the lot. ClearLot keeps 15% of each rental charge; the rest is yours.
Is my car insured while it's on the lot?+
Keep your own insurance active. ClearLot isn't liable for theft, damage or loss except in cases of gross negligence, as stated in the consignment agreement.
What do I need to list?+
Legal ownership of the vehicle and the right to sell it, the VIN, current mileage, photos and an honest disclosure of known issues.
