Bring us a car that needs work. ClearLot pays for approved repairs up front, puts the car on the lot, and recovers the cost from the sale or from rental income. No money out of your pocket, and no dealer lowballing you for a car that just needs a part.

Fix & List

Sell it for what it's worth fixed.

A car that needs $1,500 of work gets scrap offers. The same car, fixed, sells for real money. We front the repair, sell it on the lot, and you keep everything after the advance and our normal fees.

Fix & Rent

Need extra income? List it.

Don't want to sell? We fix it and rent it out — to gig drivers, by the day or week. Your share of every rental repays the advance first, and then the car keeps paying you.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Bring it in

    Drop the car at the lot. We appraise what it should sell for once it's fixed and get a written repair estimate from our partner shop.

  2. Step 2

    Approve the number

    You approve the estimate in writing, and we show you a worked example with your numbers. Repairs are capped at 35% of the car's expected value.

  3. Step 3

    We fix it and list it

    ClearLot pays the shop. The car goes on the lot with a listing — for sale, for rent, or both — like any other ClearLot car.

  4. Step 4

    You get paid

    The advance is repaid from the sale or from your rental income. Everything after that is yours.

  • You approve every repair

    Nothing happens without a written estimate you've signed off on.

  • Repairs capped at 35% of value

    So the sale comfortably covers the advance. Over the cap, we talk through options instead.

  • The car stays until you're repaid

    After work starts, the car stays on the lot until the advance is settled. Before then, cancel free.

  • No money out of pocket

    The advance is only ever repaid from your car's sale or rental proceeds.

Questions

Who decides what gets repaired?

You do, with us. We appraise the car, get a written estimate from our partner shop, and nothing starts until you approve it in writing.

What does it cost me?

The repair cost plus a 5% repair advance fee on that cost — repaid from proceeds, never out of pocket. Your normal consignment terms still apply: $35.00/week on the lot, and $250 or 3% when it sells.

What if it sells for less than the repair?

We cap repairs at 35% of the expected sale value so that's unlikely. If it ever happens, the shortfall is yours — and we tell you the worst-case number before any work starts.

Can I take the car back?

Before work starts, any time, free. After work starts, the car stays on the lot until the advance is repaid or settled.

How does Fix & Rent pay me?

Your car goes into our rental program at the rates you set. Your share of each rental (everything after ClearLot's 15%) repays the advance first; after that, your full share is yours every week.
